We are a family run business selling slabed timber and unique handcrafted furniture on the Atherton Tablelands. We only use salvaged timber, this means we do not cut live trees. We do everything from finding logs to sawmilling them on our property, then either selling slabs or sawn timber or designing unique pieces of furniture. You can choose from something ready made or we can make almost anything to order including beds of all sizes, dinning tables, chairs, rocking chairs, bedside tables, bookshelves, cabinets and naturally antibacterial camphor laurel chopping boards. We've even done some complete kitchens.

Elizabeth's PNG Bilums
|
Elizabeth makes traditional Papua New Guinean shoulder carry bags called BILUMS. These are everyday shopping bags used by PNG men and women (and children too) to carry store goods, garden produce and even new born babies. Traditionally, bilums are made from bush rope but nowadays, because of plentiful supplies of strong acrylic wool they are woven by hand into colourful carry bags. Because they are handmade, they take many hours to make. Depending on the complexity of the pattern, where up to six needles are used, they can take even a couple of months to make. Elizabeth also repairs bilums that may have large holes in them, trying her best to match the colour of the wool. She makes bilums whilst selling them at the market so you are welcomed to see how they are made.
Please note too, that Elizabeth sells fresh garden produce such as red paw paw, pineapples, citrus fruit in season, onions, PNG parsley and aibika (edible hibiscus leaves - yummy- during the warmer months)
Elizabeth is always happy to meet people from Papua New Guinea - she speaks fluent Pidgin English plus some of the local PNG Highlands dialects.
